If you are someone who shops seasonally for fresh fruits and vegetables, then you are like me. I really started paying closer attention to seasonal shifts in produce, and I love finding those gems of ingredients that taste oh, so good because they're in season. Right now, here in southern Illinois, I am noticing a lot of gorgeous end-of-summer strawberries, lots of oranges and citrus fruits, pineapples, and apples are absolutely wonderful right now! I have a positive approach to my health and wellness, especially in winter months. Don't let a cold or flu keep you down.

It's important to stay healthy during these changing seasons. Everyone seems to get so busy around this time of the year, with extra holiday travel, endless tasks to finish before the year's end, and finals are fast approaching. Read on to see how Emergen-C (available at Walgreens) inspired me to create two juice flavors, both of which pair perfectly with Emergen-C. You can basically make these ahead of time, bottle and abel them, then keep them in the fridge for a few days. Shake well before drinking and add Emergen-C just before drinking.

Earlier this year, I was making smoothies like crazy, and got super familiar with making fruit puree from strawberries, and other berries, like I did for this for this recipe. I simply added strawberry puree to water and a bit of sugar, and lastly, orange juice! This tastes so good, and is absolutely jam packed with nutrients and a burst of natural energy. I am actually going to make some popsicles from these ingredients soon.

Although there is of course sugar in most anything made from fruit, but this is still a great alternative to drinking a soft drink, pre-packaged juices, sugary coffee drinks, and the like. I added just a touch of organic evaporated cane juice sugar in here, and it tasted great.

JUICE #1: Orange Strawberry Sunshine

These bottles hold about 4 cups each, so I needed quite a lot of ingredients for these. You can scale things back as much as you would like.

INGREDIENTS:

2.5 - 3 C. Strawberry Puree (to prepare, chop green parts off of 1-2 containers of strawberries and puree in a food processor)

2 Cups Water

1 Cup Orange Juice

1/4 Cup - 2/3 Cup organic evaporated cane sugar or any other granule sweetener - feel free to add more sugar if you want, but you may not have to.

Blend together, and use a funnel to pour everything into your bottles.

JUICE #2: Mango - PassionFruit - Pineapple

INGREDIENTS:

1-2 C. Mango from 2-3 fruits (made into a paste - which is basically their texture anyway)

1 Whole Pineapple, top and edges cut off, and pureed in a food processor.

1 Cups Water

1 Cup Orange Juice

1/4 Cup - 1/2 Cup organic evaporated cane sugar or any other granule sweetener - feel free to add more sugar if you want, but you may not have to.

Blend together, and use a funnel to pour everything into your bottles. Label and enjoy!

I found this Emergen-C at my local Walgreens, and love it!

Add your Emergen-C to your juice right before you drink it. This all tastes so good, and I cannot wait to make another batch of juices! Tag me on social with #LWGcreates if you make something fun.
