Delicious Vegetarian Flatbread Pizza Recipe With Dorot Garlic and Basil

YUM!!! I am so excited to share a beautiful and delicious recipe with you, inspired by the fresh taste of Dorot fresh frozen herbs. You may have seen my last post (and recipe video) for Dorot, for my Penne Sausage Pasta with Colorful Peppers. It turned out SO well, and I loved using Dorot products a lot. They're super easy and convenient. I love finding ways to make food at home that actually tastes better than anything you can get at a restaurant, and this recipe is surely one of those. The mix of delicious flatbread crust, garlic basil sauce, fresh mozzarella, and all the veggies you can fit onto your pizza, this recipe is a definite winner.

I found my ingredients at Whole Foods, which is the most amazing store for fresh ingredients! You can also find Dorot at Trader Joe's, which is also a spectacular store in which I always find the best treasures.

To make these pizzas, you can use either a traditional red sauce base, or for even better results, I loved using a mixture of olive oil, 1-2 cubes of Dorot frozen garlic, 2-3 cubes of Dorot frozen basil, and a sprinkle of your favorite Italian seasoning and a pinch of salt if your seasoning mix does not already contain salt. If you overdo it with the salt, your recipe may be a bit intense, so be careful :)

This flatbread is called Naan, and can be found in the bread area of most any grocery store. These garlic Naan breads came as 4 in a package for only $4.

I loved using my step mom's little white, ceramic skillet style dish to make this sauce, it was the perfect size, and can be used on the stove top, in the oven, or even in the microwave.

A side note - this sauce can even be made in the microwave! Such a quick and easy tip!

This sauce smells absolutely incredible! The basil and garlic combo can't be beat!

Once your mixture is warmed and combined thoroughly (to melt the frozen Dorot cubes), use a brush or a spatula to spread your pesto-like mixture onto your flatbread crusts, and feel free to spread the mixture all the way to the edges, or leave about 1/4" to the edges for a cleaner look.

At this point, feel free to add your favorite toppings! I opted for sliced jalapenos, sliced heirloom organic cherry tomatoes (sliced in half lengthwise), orange baby peppers, red onions (yum!!), and finally some fresh mozzarella balls and a sprinkle of parmesan. You can also wait until the pizza is out of the oven to add your parmesan cheese. I also topped with a tiny bit more salt and Italian Seasoning, but that's completely up to you. I always say that more taste is better.

Bake your pizza on foil or a baking sheet in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 10 minutes, or in a toaster oven on 350-400 degrees for about 8-10 minutes. You will begin to see the cheese and toppings melt. Just make sure the edges and toppings don't burn.

Look at all of those beautiful colors in the toppings!

Carefully remove your pizza(s) from the oven, and transfer onto a cutting board or similar surface, and use a pizza cutter to slice up your delicious pizzas! These take under 20 minutes from start to finish. If you make a similar pizza, please tag me on social as @happysolez, or share the link and your thoughts below in the comment section.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PIZZA TOPPINGS AND COMBINATIONS?

Find Dorot in Whole Foods near the frozen vegetables. They have four varieties to choose from, including Basil, Garlic, Ginger, and Cilantro. Look for a recipe next week where I incorporate Ginger and Cilantro! Cannot wait to share!
