Purple Haze Smoothie Recipe

Just going back through my photo archives and found this gem :) The Purple Haze Smoothie is great for those who like a bit more of a tart smoothie (although the banana does sweeten things up), and love anything packed with antioxidants. 

I used deliciously fresh blueberries, blackberries, bananas, vanilla yogurt, and a bit of almond milk to make this stunning smoothie. I had such an obsession with berries for a while, and loved this recipe that I made it quite often. 

This smoothie reminds me of our drives along the Oregon coast. Berries were absolutely covering everything, and I thought about how the extremely sharp thorn bushes could be used like a moat to keep out intruders! The berries also remind me of driving past the Cascadian Farm and Ice Cream Shop on the Olympic Peninsula, and it wasn't until we got back home that I even realized how badly we should have stopped! Wild berries are absolutely wonderful, and not a very common sight here in southern Illinois. So, when they were in season this past summer, I indulged in the berry sales! Already looking forward to next summer :)
